New swinging arm bushes fitted

The bike passed its MOT with no problem, though a comment on slight play in swinging arm bushes.

New "Mitas" rear tyre fitted. Some work on front brake to make it more effective.

Anti-freeze added to the cooling system. Stainless steel spokes ordered for front wheel. Some carburetter parts ordered.

Carburetter problem solved, engine runs well. News from wheel builder is new spokes required.

Engine started for first time.

New front tyre etc arrived.

Front wheel removed, tyre removed and offset found to be wrong. New tyre, tube and rim tape ordered.

Headlamp re-fitted, fiddling with petrol tap again.

Body re-mounted on frame, all wiring connected and tested. Clutch, throttle and speedo cables connected.

Petrol tap modified & re-fitted. L/H footboard re-fitted. Wiring diagram started.

Front forks assembled, rearlamp wiring put in place, gaskets made for rearlamp. Some more bolts ordered from Silent Stainless and another new footboard and rear brake cable ordered from Bullers End.

Rear suspension and radiator reassembled. Quite a lot of wiring completed.

Headlamp cowl and legshield tops painted.

Re-assembled top & bottom yokes. Started to wire in fuse box.

Fuel tank and steering head re-fitted to body. Regulator mounted under battery compartment. LED insert assembled in rearlamp.

Ordered LED rearlamp insert from Paul Goff to reduce power consumption. Made a start on re-wiring ignition and alternator.

Made a bracket for mounting new ignition coil. Drew up new electrical diagram.

Collection of s/h piston rings received from Alf Snell but none useable.

New clutch plates arrived and fitted. Bell housing and gearbox re-united. Valves ground and L/H cylinder re-assembled. Broken ring on R/H piston. Damn!

Finished cleaning up main engine casings. Stripped and cleaned stator plate and checked coils etc. Contact breaker points are useable, polished up. One coil is open circuit, so new coils needed.

Received some interesting bike details from club historian.

Re-assembled starter segmant and reduction gear mechanism and started to assemble clutch. However on close examination, several of the ears on the friction plates are broken off.

First visit to club spares depot at Bullers End in Walsall. Obtained everything on my shopping list.
